A day trip to Funzi Island from Mombasa Island and Diani Beach. See mangrove forests, crocodiles, and a variety of birds during a full-day journey along the Ramisi River by boat to Funzi Island. Every day, we provide day trips to Funzi Island that include canoeing up the Ramisi River. The tour lets you experience the native way of life and is rustic. Trips are tranquil and soothing, and the Funzi Lagoon is spectacular. Crocodiles can be seen in the river. It’s crucial to understand that this cruise is not a snorkeling excursion because of the mangrove vegetation that surrounds Funzi, which makes the waters murky.
Funzi Island Day Trip Itinerary
The journey departs from Mombasa or Diani Beach and lasts for around five to six hours. At 7.30 am, depart from Diani Beach and go through Shirazi Village to Bodo. Bodo is roughly a 40-minute drive away, where a boat is waiting to take you on an incredible adventure. The day starts with a motorized canoe ride along the Ramisi River, which is home to a diverse array of birds and occasionally, crocodiles. Make sure you’re in the most picturesque location on the coast for swimming and enjoying this small slice of heaven by stopping on the sandbank (remember to bring your beach sandals, sunscreen, and towel).
We go to the Funzi Restaurant after, for those who would like, a visit to the settlement on Funzi Island. Try our seafood delicacies, which include grilled fish, crab, coconut rice, and chicken or beef on our non-seafood menus. On request, vegetarian meals can also be served. Take a leisurely break for however long you’d like, then take a boat back to the mainland. Return to your hotel after the transfer. Because of the dirt surrounding the mangrove forest, the waters in Funzi are not clear, so please be aware that this is not a snorkeling tour.
