One of Kenya’s most practical transportation options is the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). It carries passengers and freight between Mombasa, the largest port in East Africa, and Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The Madaraka Express is the primary passenger service. With stops at a number of intermediate stations, it connects Mombasa to Nairobi and other destinations.
There are two different train services offered by the Madaraka Express Passenger Service, each of which makes two daily round trips. While the Express trains (Afternoon & Night) do not make any stops along the way, the Inter-county train travels in the morning and stops at county stations in Athi River, Emali, Kibwezi, Mtito Andei, Voi, Miasenyi, and Mariakani.

Here’s how to purchase a ticket for the Madaraka Express SGR using the M-PESA Super app.
1. Access the M-PESA app.
2. Find Madaraka Express in the services section.
3. Select dates and hours of your preferred travel.
4. Choose how many tickets you want to buy, then click “Continue.”
5. Provide your name, ID number, and contact information in the fields given.
6. Choose the service level that you want.
7. Review your booking information, then press “Continue” to carry out the payment.
8. After entering your phone number, select “Pay.”
9. Direct payment options will be available within the app.
