Kenya in December or at Christmas time offers warm weather, green landscapes after the short rains, strong wildlife viewing, and a lively festive atmosphere. Christmas week is peak season, so popular lodges and beach resorts book up early.

Beaches (sun, sand, and festive dinners)
Diani Beach is the standout coastal choice. Long white-sand beaches, turquoise water, coral reefs, water sports, and resorts that run Christmas dinners, beach parties, and New Year fireworks. It works well for families and anyone wanting a tropical Christmas.
Watamu and Malindi are quieter alternatives with excellent snorkeling, marine parks, and a more relaxed Swahili-coast feel. Good for couples or travelers who prefer fewer crowds than Diani.

Safari
Maasai Mara is the classic pick.

Lake Naivasha (and the wider Rift Valley) offers boat rides, hippos, birdlife, Hell’s Gate walks, and easy access from Nairobi. Popular with Kenyan families.
Nanyuki / Mount Kenya area gives cooler highland air, mountain views, and equator experiences. Many lodges run family Christmas packages.
Nairobi itself has markets, decorated neighborhoods such as Karen, Nairobi National Park, and the Giraffe Centre if you want a short city stay.
Best overall itinerary
The most popular Christmas combination is a few nights in the Maasai Mara (or Amboseli) followed by Diani or Watamu. Domestic flights make the switch easy.

Weather is generally warm and mostly dry by late December (coast humid, highlands cooler at night). Occasional short showers are possible.
